Cutting

Also known as clicking, this is a great example of when intense concentration is required to avoid the chance of slipping the blade into expensive leather. Cutting can also be achieved quicker with a clicker press.

Belt Making

With a great selection of varieties in styles, shapes, and colours, belts can be incredibly enjoyable to make but also can be a staple accessory to boost your unique aesthetic and a buckle choice can showcase your own personality.

Sewing

Especially with contrasting threads, it is important here to ensure the correct tension is set on the sewing machine. Commonly used seams in this industry are lap seams and closed seams. Tension settings vary with product size.

Piping

Just like painting edges, adding piping can be a very effective way of pushing a luxurious theme throughout your leather products. This usually works best for medium-sized/ large goods such as holdalls and rucksacks.

Edge Finishing

Although a fairly time-consuming part of crafting high-end leather goods such as belts, painted edges can bring products to life and can add the 'luxury' label to an item as cheaper options often only have raw, unfinished edges.

Folded Edges

Also used in many other industries, including footwear, fashion, and upholstery, this technique can be considered to be a universal method of finishing edges. A safe option to select for leather products.
